For someone from New England, it seems odd to have deer penned up behind high fences, when the animals are all over the countryside back home. Mind you, I think this is a good idea, and it keeps them from becoming roadkill, but it does seem strange to see them in huge herds in someone's field, next to a field full of sheep.
Also, there are ostrich and emu farms. One wishes that the moa hadn't been exterminated 200 years ago, after the Maori arrived, because there'd probably be moa farms now, too.
