I may be off the net for a few days... I'm staying in Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, here in Swaziland. It's a 5km or so walk to the nearest internet cafe. It was a reasonably nice day, and I had to let E and my parents know where I'm staying, so I walked. I passed some zebra having breakfast on the way, but I seem to have spooked them somewhat walking by because they trotted off.

Oddly enough, they don't seem to have net at the game preserve. :)

Postings about interesting food in Kalk Bay and Durban to follow, but only when I have better access to net.

Sondzela Backpackers

Oh, and while I'm thinking of it, this is the best hostel I've stayed at so far this trip.

I got a single room here for R.90 ($12.21), which is the Hostelling International discounted rate. The regular rate is R. 100 ($13.57).

There are rates for dorm beds, double rooms (my single is actually a two-bedded room), and for camping.

Breakfast is R. 10 ($1.36), dinner is R. 20 ($2.72), and both feature African cooking, prepared and served around a camp fire. Last night's dinner was stewed chicken over rice, with green and potato salad, while this morning's breakfast was maize porridge, eggs, and toast.
The food isn't particularly special but the setting is; we had breakfast with an ostrich this morning which had to be coaxed back by one of the staff.

There is a bar, which has a pool table and a ping pong table, a sitting room with TV, and a swimming pool. And, of course, there are hiking trails through the reserve that start right outside the entrance.

Various and sundry tours are available.

It's a bit isolated but quiet and restful.
